This year has been a busy one with three conferences, the completion of the manuscript of my second book for University Press of Mississippi, Creating the Jazz Solo: Louis Armstrong and Barbershop Harmony out in the New Year, and two articles for Jazz Perspectives, one published, and one in review for publication in the New Year.

I start 2018 down in Dallas, Texas, at the Jazz Education Network Conference giving a paper “Towards Learning to Play Jazz the Louis Armstrong Way,” before heading down to New Orleans for a couple of weeks at the Hogan Jazz Archive on a Björn Bärnheim Research Fellowship. This is in relation to my third book, Creating the Jazz Century. Maybe 2018 will be a defining year when my research goes mainstream.
